Job Title: Final Setup & Assembly Technician 
Job Type: Full-Time

 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Final Setup & Assembly Technician to join our team. The position plays a critical role in ensuring every Fodera instrument meets the highest standards before reaching our customers. This position is responsible for the final stages of instrument production, including assembly, electronic installation, fretwork, and setup adjustments to achieve optimal tone, playability, and aesthetics. 

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Perform final fretwork including leveling, crowning, and polishing 
  • Assemble instruments including installing hardware, electronics, and pickups 
  • Wire and solder active/passive electronics systems with accuracy and consistency 
  • Conduct full instrument setup: neck relief, action, intonation, nut height, and pickup height 
  • Install and stretch strings, tune instruments, and verify tuning stability 
  • Conduct rigorous play-testing and quality control inspections 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any tonal, mechanical, or aesthetic issues 
  • Maintain detailed setup and QC documentation for each instrument 
  • Collaborate with luthiers, painters, and other team members to ensure seamless workflow 
  • Handle instruments with the highest care and respect at all times 

 

Qualifications:  

  • 2+ years of experience in guitar or bass setup, tech work, or luthiery 
  • Strong understanding of electric instrument construction and electronics 
  • Proficiency in fretwork (installing, beveling, leveling, crowning and polishing), soldering, and instrument adjustment techniques 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality 
  • Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines 
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills 
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities 
  • Passion for musical instruments and craftsmanship 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with boutique/custom instruments 
  • PLEK experience highly preferred but will train 
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical specifications
